The Magical platform,[1] also called Kamek's Battle Block A and B,[2] is a block that acts as a platform, but can be transformed by a Spell from Kamek. They can contain enemies, power-ups, items, or they can transform into a different platform. The first appearance of the magical platform was in New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
History[edit]
New Super Mario Bros. Wii[edit]
The first appearance of the magical platform in New Super Mario Bros. Wii is in World 8-
Tower. When the battle with Kamek starts, the magical platforms move to the left, and if they are hit by a spell, either a Koopa Troopa, Koopa Paratroopa, Goomba, Bob-omb, Monty Mole, Thwomp, Buzzy Beetle, Spiny, or Super Mushroom will appear and cause the magical platform to disappear. More enemies of the same type will appear if the magical platform is big enough. These can be broken by Thwomps or Bob-ombs. Once the battle ends, the magical platforms will stop moving.
New Super Mario Bros. U / New Super Luigi U / New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe[edit]
The first appearance of the magical platform in New Super Mario Bros. U is in Slide Lift Tower, and the first appearance in New Super Luigi U is in Stonecrush Tower. When the player fights Kamek, there are thirty magical platforms, and when he casts his spell, a random set of magical platforms containing either a Goomba, Koopa Troopa, Koopa Paratroopa, Mini Goomba, Monty Mole, or Bob-omb will appear. If the player takes too long to hit Kamek, he will destroy all the magical platforms containing an enemy, causing them to be released. If the player hits Kamek, all the magical platforms containing enemies will disappear, and he will cast a spell, and if the spell touches the magical platform, it will transform into a Donut Block. Once Kamek is defeated, all magical platforms turned into Donut Blocks will revert back.
